Due to decrease of GST on Haj pilgrimage, there will be a huge reduction in air fares, 2300 women will go without mehram to Mecca-Medina

Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday said that for the first time since independence, more than 2,300 Muslim women from India will go on Haj pilgrimage without 'Meheram' (male associate) during the year 2019. Naqvi said this while inaugurating the new office of the Haj division of the Minority Affairs Ministry, RK Puram in Delhi. He said that 2340 Muslim women living in different states of the country have applied to go to Haj 2019 without Meheram. This year also, on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Minority Affairs Ministry has arranged to send these women to Haj without the lottery system.
